The research aims to understand the factors influencing the preference for microcredit for installing solar home systems (SHS) in rural Bangladesh. It found that over 63% of rural households used SHS financed through microcredit, with factors such as education level, location, family size, and occupation influencing the choice of purchase mode. The study also found that age, location, and size of SHS significantly affect the likelihood of choosing upfront payment or instalment purchase. This highlights the need for more effective microfinance strategies to improve electricity access in remote rural areas.
